Annette Larkins looks decades younger than her true age and she credits a raw frood diet and daily exercise for her radiant, taut skin and foxy physique and vitality, but also for the pristine bill of health she has enjoyed despite her chronic-disease-ridden family tree.
Her diet consists of fruits, nuts, sprouts, vegetables and seeds, that have not been brought to a temperature above 40,5 °C (105 °F). Everything is raw and has been so for the last 31 years as the heating process kills enzymes and drastically reduces food's nutrient content.
Her health journey began in 1963 when she first turned vegetarian and it was nine years later that she completely gave up cooked food.
When her mother was 19, her mother died at the age of 36 of breast cancer. Several of her grandmother’s sisters died of it, and when Annette was 27 her mother died of the same dreaded disease. Her mother’s only sibling, a sister, suffered from diabetes and had toe and leg amputations before succumbing. Their father had both cancer and diabetes.
Of those aforementioned maladies, Larkins has experienced nothing. She doesn't even remember the last time she took so much as an aspirin.
