Quinoa Crisp chocolate bar, a chocolate with a Brazil Nut Butter center.

Our Alive, Organic Brazil Nut Butter is made from Brazil Nuts gathered in the pristine forests of Amazonia.  Below that is a layer of alive, organic caramel created from maple sugar, dates, pecans, cacao, maple syrup and honey. Then follows a layer of puffed quinoa. 

Brazil nuts grow in the rain forests of Amazonia. The Brazil nut tree is enormous, reaching a height of up to 50 m it belongs to the one of the highest trees in the rain forest. These trees can live a long life of up to 500 years! The trees grow very slowly, taking 10 years before producing nuts.

Our organic raw nut butters are manufactured in Berkeley, California. 25 noble prize winners have taught in Berkeley and the wisdom of John Muir, the courage of Marin Luther King Jr, and the genius of Steve Wozniak have graced this town.

Our manufacturer supports sustainable growing practices and family farmers since 1979, with whom he has built genuine relationships, spanning decades, based upon a handshake, a smile and a look in the eye as insurance, refusing to deal with anonymous, multinational conglomerates. The farmers have found creative alternative ways to keep the soil rich in minerals and clean of any pesticides or herbicides and to cope with challenges:  essential oils; seaweed; organic compost produced on the farm, exploding with earth worms; predatory insects; man-made wells, and imported bees.

The land is loved, nurtured, respected. They have become guardians of topsoil. And all efforts have been worthwhile. There is a vibrant quality to these nut butters and chocolate, an aliveness that feeds soul, smell and palate. They taste exactly like the premium quality nuts they come from. And knowing the caring, love and humanity which goes into each food, well we somehow feel even better to eat them.

The producer’s root belief is that vibrant good health is a combination of many subtle elements including and foremost alive food.

He draws his inspiration from several sources including Professor Arnold Ehret. Dr. Ehret was the first great teacher of alive nutrition and natural healing in the United States. He came to California from Germany in the 1920’s. His core philosophy: fasting for healing; and from the naturopath Dr. Kirschner, M.D. who got excellent results treating people with serious illness with blends of wild greens mixed to spring water.

The company was founded in Marin County, California in 1979 by a former college teacher and the administrator of the Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Association of Southern California with the mission to propagate historic and heirloom fruit trees, including over 80 varieties of old time apple varieties. And it was successful in bringing back from near extinction several early California varieties and to introduce the Warren pear. After a decade, they began the manufacturing of organic foods.

Contribution to the Live Food Movement

They created an ethical business who treats its clients and team members with kindness and respect supporting various campaigns in animal and environment preservation and taking a leading role in the effort to contest the fumigation of almonds in California. They educate their customers on the benefits of a healthy diet, and they donate food in support of live foods events, live food workshops and have worked with leading live food teachers in organizing workshops and seminars.

The company’s main creation is alive almond butter made from California almonds.
